What we do

Fix what's broken. Upgrade what's slow.

Most computers that feel finished have one failed part or one slow part. We find it and replace it.

Repairs FAULTS

  • Screen replacementCracked glass, lines, flicker or a dead backlight. Matching panel fitted, hinges and cable checked.
  • Power and charging faultsNo lights, no charge, loose DC jack or USB-C port. Traced back to the part that failed.
  • Liquid damageStripped, cleaned of corrosion and tested board by board. The sooner it reaches us, the better the odds.
  • Motherboard repairComponent-level work on boards that other shops write off as a replacement.
  • Overheating and fan noiseFans and heatsinks cleaned, thermal paste renewed, failed fans replaced.
  • Keyboards, trackpads and hingesDead keys, sticky trackpads, cracked lids and hinges that have pulled out of the case.
  • Virus and malware removalCleaned properly, then patched so it does not come straight back.
  • Data recoveryFiles recovered from failed, clicking, deleted or reformatted drives, SSDs, RAID arrays and NAS boxes. See the price list

Upgrades SPEED & SPACE

  • SSD upgradeThe biggest speed gain for an older machine. Your existing drive is cloned, so everything is where you left it.
  • Memory (RAM)More headroom for browser tabs, video calls and editing. We check what your model accepts first.
  • New batteryFor laptops that only last an hour or shut down without warning.
  • Windows 11Clean installs and in-place upgrades, with your files and programs carried over.
  • Graphics card and power supplyDesktop and gaming PC upgrades, fitted and stress-tested.
  • Move to a new computerFiles, email, photos and settings transferred from the old machine to the new one.
  • Bigger storageA larger internal drive, or a second drive added where the case has room.
  • Operating system reinstallWindows or macOS set up fresh, updated and ready to use.

Still on Windows 10? Microsoft ended support on 14 October 2025, so it no longer gets security updates. Windows 11 needs TPM 2.0 and a supported processor. We can tell you whether your computer qualifies, and what an upgrade would take if it doesn't.

Makes we work on: Apple · Dell · HP · Lenovo · ASUS · Acer · MSI · Microsoft Surface · Samsung · Toshiba / Dynabook · Razer · custom-built PCs

How it works

From your door to the bench and back

  1. Tell us the fault

Send the booking form or call with the make, model and what it's doing. We'll say whether it sounds repairable.

  2. Pack it up

Box the computer with padding on every side. A tracked courier collects it from your home or work.

  3. Diagnosis and quote

We find the fault on the bench and give you one fixed price. Nothing is done until you say yes.

  4. Repair and test

The part is replaced or repaired, then the machine is run under load to make sure the fault is gone.

  5. Back to your door

Repacked and returned by tracked courier, with a note of what was done.

Near south-east London? You can bring it to our Beckenham workshop instead. Drop-off is by appointment only, so call first.

Every UK postcode area, from ZE in Shetland to TR in Cornwall and BT across Northern Ireland. Pick your town for local details. If yours isn't listed, we still collect from it.

Collections from the Highlands, the Scottish islands and Northern Ireland can take the courier an extra day or two. Jersey, Guernsey and the Isle of Man are outside the UK, so contact us first and we'll confirm how to send it. Check your postcode on the job ticket.

Data recovery

Hard drive, SSD, RAID and NAS recovery

When a drive stops working, your files are usually still on it. Getting them back depends on which part has failed: the mechanics inside, the electronics board underneath, or the file system.

12345

Inside a hard drive

  1. Platters. Discs that hold your files as magnetic patterns.
  2. Read/write heads. They fly a few nanometres above the platters. A knock can crash them into the surface, which is the clicking you hear.
  3. Actuator arm. Swings the heads across the platters.
  4. Spindle motor. Spins the platters at 5,400 or 7,200 rpm. When it seizes, the drive buzzes but never starts.
  5. Voice coil magnet. Drives the arm.

A fault in any of these parts means opening the drive in a clean room.

123456

The electronics board

  1. Main controller. The drive's processor.
  2. ROM chip. Holds calibration data unique to this one drive, so a board from an identical drive rarely works until the ROM is moved across.
  3. Motor driver. Powers the spindle and the arm. It is the chip that most often burns out after a power surge.
  4. Protection diodes. They short out to absorb a surge or the wrong charger, and take the drive down with them.
  5. SATA and power connector.
  6. Head contacts. Pads that press against the drive body to reach the heads.
123

Inside an SSD

  1. Controller. Tracks where every piece of every file is stored. When its firmware corrupts, the drive shows as empty or doesn't appear at all.
  2. NAND flash chips. The storage itself. There are no moving parts, so there is no warning noise before a failure.
  3. M.2 connector.

Common questions

How should I pack a laptop?

Use a sturdy box with at least 5cm of padding on every side. Wrap the laptop in bubble wrap, close the lid on nothing (no pens, no paper), and put the charger in a separate bag so it can't scratch the case. A desktop tower needs its original box or a double-walled carton, and a heavy graphics card is safer removed and wrapped separately.

My hard drive is clicking. What should I do?

Switch it off and leave it off. Every restart risks more damage to the platters. Don't open it, don't run repair software on it, and don't put it in the freezer. Pack it well and send it to us as it is.

Should I send the charger?

Yes for laptops. Many "won't turn on" faults turn out to be the charger, and we need to test with yours. Leave out mice, bags, sleeves and anything else we don't need.

Do I need to back up first?

If the computer still starts, back up anything you can't replace before it leaves the house. If it won't start, tell us your files matter and we'll protect the drive before any other work begins.

Will you need my password?

For most hardware repairs we need to sign in to test the machine afterwards. You can give us the password, remove it before sending, or set up a temporary guest account.

What if it isn't worth repairing?

We'll tell you after diagnosis, before you've agreed to any repair. If a repair would cost more than the computer is worth, we'll say so and can move your files to a replacement.
